Dhangadi, May 22

An elderly couple was found murdered at Chhatrabastole of Dhangadi Sub-metropolitan City in Kailali yesterday night.

According to police, an unidentified group of people broke into their house and mercilessly murdered Badri Prasad Joshi (72) and his wife Kunta Devi Joshi (65). The door of the house was found locked from outside.

“The couple was stabbed repeatedly with sharp weapons. Their faces and bodies covered with wounds and deep cuts,” informed Chief of the District Police Office Kailali.

Police have arrested seven persons, including the tenants of the house, on suspicion of their involvement in the murder. Two suspects are on the run and search for them is on, police informed. However, the security personnel did not disclose the names of the alleged as the investigation is going on.

Badri Prasad Joshi, a retired schoolteacher, had good rapport with members of his locality. Locals have demanded stern investigation and action against the guilty. The couple are survived by three daughters and a son.
