Couple swept away

Okhaldhunga, August 31

The flooded Thotnekhola swept away a couple and three houses in Okhaldhunga yesterday.

Abiraj and Harkamaya Dahal from Mamkha of the district have been missing ever since the flooded river swept them away while they were asleep in a cowshed.

The flood also swept away five bridges and damaged as many hydropower projects.

Mamkha-based Odahare, Pahire, Chamal, Rumjatar, and Kalibeli Odahare micro hydropower projects were damaged.

Power supply to Mamkha, Diyale, and Pokhare VDCs as well as ward no 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,12, and 13 of Siddhicharan Municipality has been disrupted.

“Water level in the river is yet to decline,” said Dev Kumar Dahal, a farmer of Siddhicharan municipality, adding that flood waters had inundated hundreds of ropani land on the river front.
