RAUTAHAT, APRIL 1

A staff member of the Rautahat District Court has been arrested with Rs 50,000 in cash while allegedly accepting a bribe from a service seeker, officials said.

A team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) apprehended Lav Kumar Singh, a contractual employee working in the execution section of the court in Gaur, red-handed while receiving the amount.

According to the CIAA, the operation was carried out under the command of DSP Rajiv Shrestha. Singh had allegedly demanded money from the service seeker to facilitate land release in line with a court verdict by issuing the necessary official documents.

The CIAA said Singh was arrested immediately after the payment was made.

Ward Chair of Gaur Municipality–1, Lalbabu Chaudhary, confirmed that a team is conducting on-site documentation and recording statements following the arrest.

The accused has been taken to Hetauda for further investigation and legal action, the CIAA added.
