Kathmandu, June 4

CPN-Maoist Centre Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah have held a meeting today.

In the meeting held at Dahal's residence, Khumaltar, Chairperson Dahal held talks about overall development works of the KMC in the wake of new leadership.

Today's meeting is part of the newly elected Mayor Shah's visit with chairpersons of various political parties regarding development of the largest metropolis in the country-KMC.

Stating that his party had also moved ahead by including youths, Dahal, also the former Prime Minister, expressed his happiness over election of more and more youths in the recently held local level poll and pledged to cooperate in the youth's development endeavours.

Furthermore, the sexagenarian leader urged 32-year-old youth Mayor Shah to undertake development works in the metropolis in respect of the voters than any political parties, said Mayor Shah's secretariat.

It may be noted that Shah was elected to the post as an independent candidate.

Dahal was of the view that victory of independent candidates in places like Dharan and Kathmandu had spurred a new revolution in the country, Mayor Shah's secretariat quoted Dahal as saying.

Mayor Shah, during the meeting, appraised Dahal about the work relating to garbage management in the KMC had started, according to Dahal's press aide Surya Kiran Sharma.

Talking to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) following the meeting, Mayor Shah shared that he had reaffirmed his commitment to continue with the development works and called for the need to rope in pro-democracy people in the politics.

Earlier, the newly elected mayor had called on Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli.
