Maoist students padlock Kavre colleges demanding rescheduled FSU polls

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-Revolutionary), the student wing of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist, padlocked the offices of Free Student Unions (FSU) elections at seven colleges in Kavre district.

The student union padlocked the FSU election offices at Chaitanya Multiple Campus, Kavre Multiple Campus, Tejganga Multiple Campus, Indreshwor Campus, Dhulikhel Campus, Sarbamangala Multiple Campus and Dedithumka Public Campus.

The offices were locked up citing the date announced for the FSU poll was inappropriate, according to Chaityanya Campus Chief Jujubhai Manandhar.

The agitating student union's district chair Dinesh Saru said the election date was announced ignoring the union's repeated calls for not coinciding it with the date of party's convention.

The Tribhuvan University has announced to hold the FSU polls at its colleges on February 25.
