CPN (Masal) supports budget with reservation
KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (Masal) extended its support to the budget for the fiscal year 2016-17 brought by the government with some reservation.
Although the budget has not given attention to the principle of making Nepal a socialism-oriented country as mentioned in the constitution, the provisions contained in the budget as holding the local body elections and making the country self-reliant were positive, the party'sĀ General Secretary Mohan Bikram Singh said in a press release today.
Likewise, the CPN (Masal) has welcomed the announcements made in the budget increasing the social security allowances and providing subsidies to agriculture sector.
"Experience at different times has shown that a large chunk of the amount allocated by the budget remains unspent. A very adverse impact is caused to development works due to the bureaucratic and corrupt working system of the administration and the misuse and misappropriation of the development expenditure by the major political parties," the press release read, stressing on institutional reform in this situation.
