KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 15

Chairperson of CPN-Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal said the country was in need of structural reforms for economic development.

Addressing the central general convention of Federation of Nepal Industry and Trade here today, Chairperson Dahal praised businesspersons for their tremendous role in making the country self-reliant.

"In the past, we were self-reliant in foods and used to export as well. But, we have been importing food stuffs now. Nepal, once known for production and use of gundruk, is now importing it," he reminded, urging everyone to hone their skills and foster entrepreneurship development.

He further stressed the need to change the present electoral system and governance model. He vowed to wipe out anomalies in structural mechanisms.

Mentioning the slogan 'I don't indulge in corruption and don't let others as well' and setting on signboard on the one hand and the corruption prevailing everywhere, on the other, he wondered who - the system or the person - was culpable.
