CPN-MC clean sweeps civic polls in Rukum

The CPN-Maoist Centre has taken the lead in Province 5, which comprises 12 districts, in the second phase of civic polls held on June 28.
The party has swept the polls by winning all three local levels in Rukkum. CPN-MC candidates Ramsur Budhamagar and Man Kumari Bista have been elected chair and vice-chair respectively of Bhume Rural Municipality.
CPN-MC’s Om Prasad Gharti Magar and Om Kumari Shahi Malla won the chair and vice-chair posts respectively in Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality. In Sisne Rural Municipality, Kumari Baral and Gobardhan Budhamagar of the party won the posts of chair and vice-chair respectively.
As per the results, Rastriya Janamorcha’s Amardhwaj Ranamagar and Sarita GC have been elected chairperson and vice-chairperson in Mallarani Rural Municipality. Vote counting in other two municipalities and six rural municipalities in the district is under way.
In Dang, CPN-MC’s Bhakta Bahadur Oli has claimed the post of chair by beating NC’s Bhojraj Pande in Bangalachuli Rural Municipality, while Yamuna Gharti won vice-chair’s post in the rural municipality.
In two sub-metropolises Ghorahi and Tulsipur, UML is on the lead as vote counting is under way.
Dang has a total of 10 local levels, including two sub-metropolises, one municipality and seven rural municipalities.
Vote counting is under way in Banke, Rupandehi, Bardia, Palpa, Arghakhanchi and Nawalparasi districts.
