All CPN-UML candidates in Panchkhal ward female

The CPN-UML is fielding only women candidates in a ward of Panchkhal Municipality.

All five UML candidates from chairperson to members in Ward No 3 of the municipality are women.

Bimala Sharma, the UML candidate for ward chairperson, said the party wanted to establish the ward as ‘women-friendly’.

Niru Nepal, Maina Sarki, Parbati Luitel, and Rohit Kumari Humagain are the candidates who have thrown their hats into the ring for the election.

Meanwhile, some 26 candidates withdrew their nominations from different local bodies within the deadline served by the Election Commission. While four candidates each took back their nominations from Dhulikhel and Panauti municipalities, three candidates have withdrawn their nominations from Mandan Deupur municipality. Another nine candidates also backed out from the polls in Chauri Deurali rural municipality.

As many as 2772 candidates had filed their nominations for 701 positions at the 13 different local bodies in the district earlier. The district has a total of 230,849 registered voters.
