CPN-UML Chair Oli stresses on timely polls

JHAPA: The main opposition party CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday said that the country could head towards peace, prosperity and stability after concluding all three levels of elections.

Speaking at a gathering organised by the party cadres in Jhapa today, Oli further said that the timely polls were necessary to enforce the new constitution and institutionalise achievements made.

"The UML is in favour of concluding the local level polls by third week of November and the provincial and federal elections within the stipulated time, January 21 next," stated Oli adding “Otherwise the country may plunge into a political and constitutional crisis.

Encouraging participation of local people in election campaigns was a good sign of their faith in polls, he said.
