UML decides to make anti-amendment bill protests stronger
KATHMANDU: The main opposition, CPN-UML, on Thursday decided to make protests against the Constitution amendment bill inside and outside the Parliament more effective.
A meeting of the party's Standing Committee presided over by party Chairman KP Sharma Oli at the central office in Dhumbarahi today made a decision to this effect, the party Publicity Department Chief and Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai informed in a statement today.
The party has been obstructing the House business since registration of the bill at the Parliament Secretariat on November 29.
It has been demanding that the government withdraw the bill, which according to it was against the national interests.

Meanwhile, the party also reminded the government that it should hold elections at local, provincial and federal levels by January 2018.
"The meeting has stressed that," the statement read, "The CPN-UML is ever ready to give headway to the nation by finding a political way out through the elections."
The party had called the meeting of its powerful committee today to discuss current political affairs, according to Bhattarai.
