UML files complaint against the govt

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML on Thursday lodged a complaint against the government at the EC for misusing resources from state coffers to influence local level elections.

According to UML’s deputy parliamentary party leader Subas Chandra Nembang, his party has alleged that the government was preparing to provide billions of rupees to CPN-Maoist Centre cadres to influence the polls.

The UML alleged that the government was preparing to allocate Rs 5 billion through the Ministry of Youth and Sports in districts on the pretext of ‘building sports infrastructure’.

It alleged that the government was also planning to allocate a budget of billions of rupees in Rolpa and Rukum districts on the pretext of constructing 113 roads to link remote villages but the real purpose was to influence elections.
