UML should let House resume business, says Thapa

Pokhara, December 16

Rastriya Prajatantra Party Central Chairman Kamal Thapa today said opposition parties, including the CPN-UML, were committing a mistake by obstructing the Parliament.

Speaking at a press meet in Pokhara, Thapa said the opposition parties should allow the Parliament to deliberate on the amendment bill registered by the government. He, however, said some clauses in the bill were against the nation and national integrity.

Thapa asked the government to bring all disgruntled parties and groups into confidence to ensure passage of the bill from the Parliament.

Talking about elections, Thapa argued that the conduct of polls would not be possible without addressing the demands of the agitating parties. Stating that all three levels of elections had to be held by January of 2018, Thapa said the country should not go for polls under the existing structure of local bodies.

“We have hold the polls after the State Restructuring Commission submits its report,” Thapa added. He said his party would register an amendment proposal in the Parliament seeking reinstatement of the Hindu state at an appropriate time.

He said his party had emerged as an alternative political force in the country.

At the programme, Rastriya Prajatantra Party National Chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana accused that the three major parties of inviting instability and anarchy.
