UML rebel candidates in Bajhang

DHANGADI: Dissatisfied with the party leadership at the selection of candidates, CPN-UML party leaders have fielded rebel candidates for both the House of Representatives and provincial assembly polls in Bajhang.

UML leader Gopal Bahadur Khadka filed his nomination as a rebel candidate for the House of Representatives while another leader Sher Bahadur Bohara filed nomination as a rebel candidate for provincial assembly in Bajhang-A.

Unhappy with the party at not giving ticket to Bhanubhakta Jaisi for the House of Representatives, the disgruntled group fielded Khadka as rebel candidate. Jaishi’s supporters were angry after the ticket was given to Bhairab Bahadur Singh at the eleventh hour instead of Jaishi.

UML Bajhang had conducted voting inside the party to give ticket for the provincial assembly poll in Bajhang-A. UML district chair Dil Bahadur Singh had secured 47 votes while Arjun Thapa who had won 24 votes.

The ticket, however, was given to Thapa. Singh’s supporters then fielded Sher Bahadur Bohara for as rebel candidate for the provincial assembly in Bajhang-A.
