KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 20

CPN-Maoist Centre Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal commented that the House disruption by CPN-UML lawmakers was a continuity of the party's regressive way.

At a programme organised here today by Socialist Press Organisation, the Maoist Centre Chair said that UML is still on the path of regression.

This continuity of regression from their side is what we have been seeing in the Parliament, the former prime minister said. "KP Sharma Oli is still encroaching upon the constitution, democratic norms and is conspiring to create environment conducive to regression," according to Dahal.

The then prime minister KP Sharma Oli had announced the date for fresh election by dissolving the House of Representative on this very day last year. But, the Supreme Court (reinstated the House terming Oli's move unconstitutional.

PM Oli dissolved the House again on May 21 and the SC issued a mandamus order for the appointment of NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba as prime minister while reinstating the House. Currently, the UML has been frequently disrupting House proceedings and this has affected regular business of the Parliament as well.

Similarly, Dahal said that efforts were on to break the five-party alliance and pledged to further strengthen the alliance to safeguard republicanism, democracy and the constitution.

The Maoist Centre Chair also expressed anger towards Oli's proposal to back the MCC ratification and let the NC run the government alone if the NC agrees to break the coalition.
