CPN-UML to launch Mechi-Mahakali campaign

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML on Sunday decided to launch a Mechi-Mahakali campaign for the strengthening of national unity and social harmony, and the implementation of Constitution.

The campaign, which would include a motor rally from Kakadbhitta of eastern Nepal to Surkhet via Mahendranagar of the far-west, would kick off on March 4 and conclude on March 18.

With the party's top guns, including Chairman KP Sharma Oli, former Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, directly leading in the campaign, the party would hold mass meetings at 30 places, according to UML leader Pradeep Gyawali.

The party's Standing Committee had held its meeting at the CPN-UML headquarters in Dhumbarahi today.

Meanwhile, the party has scheduled the meeting of its politburo for February 6-7.
