DAMAULI, APRIL 17

CPN-UML Tanahun has decided to throw its weight behind Govindaraj Joshi's son Dipakraj Joshi for the post of mayor of Byas Municipality in Tanahun.

CPN-UML has forged an electoral alliance with Joshi for the local polls slated for May 13 in Tanahun.

A source said the UML had decided to support Joshi's son as part of its strategy to defeat the Nepali Congress in the district.

As part of the agreement between the CPN-UML and Govindaraj Joshi, they will field common candidates in all the municipalities and rural municipalities in the local polls slated for May 13.

To make the alliance effective, a Poll Mobilisation Committee has been formed.

The committee consists of four members from Joshi's group and four from CPN-UML.

As per the agreement, the two sides will field common candidates in all municipalities and rural municipalities in Tanahun.

Nepali Congress, Tanahun, has experienced prolonged factionalism and conflict between senior leader Ramchandra Paudel and Joshi's group.

Joshi junior has opened contact office in Byas and started soliciting votes.
