DHANGADI: Nepali Congress candidate Dr. Arju Rana Deuba was defeated in the parliamentary race in Kailali constituency 5 by CPN-UML’s Narad Muni Rana, with a margin of 4,880 votes.

CPN-UML’s Rana received a total of 27,202 votes while NC’s candidate Dr. Rana garnered 22,322 votes.

Former Member of Parliament Arzu Rana, who is also the wife of NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was constantly trailing in the race since the vote counting started.

A total of 61,000 votes were cast in the constituency.
