Cry for aid to fight climate change

Kathmandu, November 21:

Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Ganesh Shah today said Nepal would urge developed countries for assistance to least developed countries in uplifting their abilities and strengthening their entities for abating effect of climate change in mountain area and protecting bio-diversity in United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held in Poland from December 1 to 12.

Speaking at a programme organised at the Ministry today, Minister Shah said he would urge the participating countries to help for the development of clean development mechanism, power promotion and environment protection.

Members of Constituent Assembly, representing various parties, said public awareness program on effect of climate change, its challenges and opportunities should be organised.

Constituent Assembly members Sunil Babu Pant, Anil Jha, Krishna Prasad Sapkota, Gagan Thapa, Keshav Prasad Mainali, Sobhakar Parajuli, Kalpana Rana and others said national vision on effects of climate change should be clear.
