Curfew lifted in Dhangadhi, Tikapur for Eid

DHANGADHI: The local administration has relaxed curfew in Dhangadhi and Tikapur of Kailali district for some hours on Friday.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer Uday Bahadur Singh, the curfew order was lifted considering the Eid, the biggest festival of Muslims.

He said that the curfew was lifted from 5 am to 2 pm.

Singh, however, informed that the prohibitory order is still intact.

Earlier on Thursday, the District Administration Office, Kailali, had removed Tikapur Municipality, 10 of its neighbouring VDCs and Dhangadhi Municipality from the list of riot-hit zone.

Nepal Army personnel deployed in the district had also returned to their barracks following the decision.

The DAO had declared the municipalities and VDCs riot-hit zones, issued prohibitory orders and mobilised army after eight police personnel and a child were killed during a violent protest in Tikapur on August 24.
