RAJBIRAJ: A person died and another sustained critical injuries after a bicycle they were riding on was rear-ended by a Scorpio jeep at Shambunath Municipality-3 along the East-West Highway in Saptari district.

The deceased has been identified as the cyclist Sulaan Miya (24) and the injured as pillion rider Mukesh Kumar Yadav (23), both the residents of Rupani Rural Municipality-1 in the district.

The SUV (Ba 7 Cha 9342) heading towards east rear-ended the cycle critically injuring its riders Miya and Yadav last night, according to the Rupani-based Area Police Office (APO).

The injured duo were rushed to the Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital, subsequently, Miya succumbed to injuries on the way while Yadav has been undergoing treatment in the hospital, said police.

Meanwhile, the APO has impounded the four-wheeler SUV and detained its driver for further investigation into the case, police said.
