DACLIT intercepts marijuana and hashish in Birganj
Birgunj, home to hashish and other marijuana is known as one of the most prominent farming districts for such products.
Drug Abuse Control Law Implementation Team (DACLIT) is heavily controlling the supply process and is intercepting most of the drugs during their transition to destinations, although some are being stopped at farming stage.
Reports show that 11 kg of hashish, three kg of brown sugar and six grams of heroin have been discovered during the past nine months of this year in Birgunj.
DACLIT has moved forward in its campaign by implementing legal action against drugs suppliers after capturing a total of 730 kg of drugs. Of this amount, twenty-one kg were hashish, out of which six kg were found in Bara district and fifteen kg were discovered in Makawanpur district during this fiscal year in Narayani and Janakpur zones.
Jaganath Gautam, inspector and person in charge of Drug Abuse Control Law Implementation Team, said that they captured the maximum amount of hashish, 83 kg, in Makawanpur district and the least amount in Sarlahi district.
In the fiscal year of 2057/58, they had taken 1514 kg of hashish, 107 kg of marijuana as well as 420 CC TD.
He added that they have taken the responsibility of controlling rampant drug abuse in Narayani and Janakpur zones for several years now and have been successfully taking action against suppliers.
