Biratnagar, June 3:

One Yagya Bahadur Khatri of Babiyabirta village development committee ward no-9 in Morang died when dacoits attacked him last night.

Dacoits hit Khatri in the head with an axe and shot him in the leg when he tried to retaliate them during their looting spree, the police said.

Khatri died on the way to hospital.

The dacoits fled after looting property and cash worth Rs 2 lakhs from seven houses in the village.

The gang of at least 40 members detonated socket bombs before the robbery, police said adding that they have launched a search.
