Dalit body to train youths for revolt
KATHMANDU: The two-day central committee meeting of National Dalit Liberation Front (NDLF), aligned to Unified CPN-Maoist, has decided to organise, train and deploy at least 500 youths of Dalit communities from every state committee for the upcoming struggle planned by the party. “We have also decided to organise more and more youths in the Young Communist League (YCL),” said a central committee member of NDLF.
It may be recalled that major political parties have been demanding UCPN-M to dissolve its paramilitary wing, YCL, though.
The meeting of NDLF concluded on March 20 making some important decisions. According to the member, the meeting decided to deploy 1,500-2,000 Dalits from hilly districts, at least 5,000 from the Tarai districts and 500-1,000 from districts in the mountains for the mass demonstration of the party on April 6. For the second phase of Maoist movement each state committee will deploy 10,000 to 20,000 Dalits.
Meanwhile, at a training session on the first day of the meeting Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had urged NDLF to contribute more in the upcoming people’s revolt than in the people’s war, earlier.
The NDLF meeting has also decided to launch programmes to strongly counter attacks and suppressions being faces by Dalit communities across the nation. The meeting also sought that demands of special rights for the Dalit communities at all the organs of the state mechanism be addressed in the new constitution. The meeting further decided to take special initiative to make movements of Joint Political Dalit Struggle Committee much effective and strong throughout the nation.
NDLF has also demanded the government to independently probe the incident in which a child Chandra Kala Biswokarma,12, Amrita Biswokarma and Devi Kala Biswokarma of Hariharpur-2, Surkhet were killed by Nepali Army on March 10. The front also demanded action against the culprit who had reportedly killed a girl Manisha Harijan, 8, daughter of Raju Harijan of Mariyapur-2, Rupandehi on December 4, 2009. Besides the front has also demanded action against those who killed Dalit squatters at Dudejhari on December 5, 2009.
