DAO to protect cadres

BARDIYA: District Administration Office Bardiya is to provide security to the cadres of Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) who are sheltering in the district headquarter fleeing from different villages of the district due to the threat of CPN (Maoists). The cadres of UCPN (Maoists) have been threatening the cadres of rival parties of abduction, thrashing and looting relating the case of Chief of Army Staff (CoAS). Cadres of different parties who have reached the district headquarter filed application in the DAO demanding security. Chief District Officer of Bardiya Bed Bahadur Karki said," We would provide security to the displaced people." He added that they were investigating the case as they got name of some persons involved in the incident. CDO Karki said,"Some of the cadres of different political parties are thrashed and land of some of them has been seized," adding," We have taken this matter seriously." He informed that he had provided strict security to the displaced people."

Karki also informed that they have been discussing to place a base camp of armed police force in Manau VDC as per the demand of the locals. Former chairman of Manau VDC is sheltering in the district headquarter due to the intimidation of the UCPN (Maoists). Nepali Congress Bardiya claimed that cadres of CPN(Maoists) thrashed their five cadres and also looted their property. According to Arunsingh Rathour, chairman of Nepali Congress Bardiya, Cadres of CPN (Maoists) thrashed their cadres Anantaram Tharu of Belawa VDC, Krishna Poudel and keshab Poudel of Manau VDC and threatened them to leave their house. Meanwhile Rauthar claimed that they thrashed their cadre Basantaraj Bhatta of Manau after kidnapping him and also looted cash from him.

Chairman Rathaur urged the cadres of UCPN (Maoists) not to threaten and trash their cadres relating the President's decision to reinstate the Chief of Army Staff Rookmangud Katawal. Rathaur informed that their cadres have been sheltering in the district headquarter due to the intimidation of the UCPN (Maoists).
