Ramechhap, January 7:

A government-nominated area member of the Ramechhap District Development Committee, Angnima Sherpa, allegedly beat up the secretary of Gumdel VDC, Yadav Pahadi, yesterday.

Sherpa, who is a regional member of Area Number 1, assaulted Pahadi at a public place in Manthali on the charge that he did not organise the village council meeting on the day Sherpa had fixed.

Pahadi was on his way to Okhreni VDC to participate in a mobile camp organised there.

Sherpa abused Pahadi physically, said Binod KC of Khandbari in Manthali-6.

The VDC secretaries of the district have condemned the incident. Just a day before the incident, Sherpa had used abusive language to Local Development Officer, Komal Prasad Kafle, regarding the formation of the Those-Bamti road users’ committee.
