DDC resumes work after 25 days

Siraha, November 14:

Day-to-day works resumed in the Siraha District Development Committee (DDC) office today after 25 days of protest.

The work resumed after a joint meeting agreed to provide meeting and promotion allowance to the agitating District Development Committee office staffers and call back the two staffers, who were summoned to the centre by the Ministry of Local Development.

The Ministry of Local Development, on the charge of supporting agitation, had summoned division engineer Shital Prasad Gupta and engineer Bishnudev Yadav to the ministry.

A joint meeting between the eight-party mechanism and Local Bodies’ Staffers Association Nepal (LBSAN) held yesterday evening agreed to provide meeting and promotion allowance to the staffers.

The meeting also decided to immediately call back engineers Gupta and Yadav from Ministry of Local Development.

Following the agreement, the agitating staffers withdrew their protest and resumed work from today.

Talking to this daily today, Local District Officer Ramadhin Yadav said the meeting and promotion allowance will be given to DDC employees as per the report of a three-member committee formed by the eight-party mechanism.

The committee is headed by Kishori Yadav of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, according to the Siraha District Development Committee.

The LBSAN launched protest programmes from October 21, protesting government’s decision

of curtailing meeting and promotion allowance.
