The family of Bikram Pariyar of Bhadgaun, Byas Municipality in Tanahun, who was murdered on Sunday, received his body today.

An unidentified group of six persons had assaulted and killed him while he was taking a stroll along with his friend in the village after casting his ballot in his hometown.

Earlier, Pariyar’s kin had refused to receive his body, demanding that he be declared a martyr by the government. They had also sought action against the murderers and compensation for the murder.

They, however, relented after the Nepali Congress party pledged to take serious initiatives in order to get their demands fulfilled. The body was received in the presence of NC leaders and cadres.
