Rajbiraj, August 22

An all party meeting held at the residence of Saptari CDO Birendra Kumar Yadav today took a six-point decision, including giving martyr’s status to Rajendra Kumar Raut, who was killed during the indefinite Tarai Madhes bandh some days back in Bhardaha of Saptari.

The meeting chaired by CDO Yadav has decided to write to the Home Ministry to declare Raut a martyr, to provide Rs 20 million reparation to the victim’s family and form a high-level probe committee to investigate the incident, among others.

CDO Yadav said that they had decided to write to the Home Ministry to provide a permanent job to the deceased’s wife and free education to their two children. CDO Yadav said that the all-party meeting had also decided to construct a statue of Raut at a public place to honour him and name the place after him.

Representatives from various political parties, civil society members, security forces, journalists, rights activists, and agitating parties, among others, were present at the meeting to support the decision.
