Deepak Manange administered oath as Gandaki lawmaker

KATHMANDU: Infamous gangster Rajib Gurung aka Deepak Manange, who was elected to the provincial assembly of Gandaki province has taken oath of office on Monday.

Gurung-released from Dillibazar Sadar Khor on bail in a attempted murder case-had filed an application at the province secretariat seeking lawmakers' oath on December 27, 2018.

Gandaki Province Speaker Netra Nath Adhikari administered the oath to Gurung in presence of state authorities and lawmakers.

State authorities including the speaker, after Manange filed for oath, were adamant on not administering the oath citing legal complications. However, the authorities had changed lines after a discussion with Gurung few days after rebuffing him.

"I have waited for this day for long and I am happy that it finally happened," Gurung told the media following the ceremony.
