Delay in access road construction puts local lives at risk in Jajarkot

JAJARKOT: Delay in construction of an access road in Nalgad Municipality of Jajarkot district is forcing the locals to risk their lives while crossing Nalgad River. A person died after he was swept away by the river in Nalgad Municipality-5 of the district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Kali Bahadur Nepali (40) of Barekot Rural Municipality-7 in the district.

The incident occurred when Nepali slipped and fell into Nalgad River while crossing the makeshift wooden bridge over the river, drowning him, informed Gavinda Singh of Barekot Rural Municipality.

It has been learnt that Nepali was returning home from Kathmandu. He was involved in construction works there.

Due to delay in the construction of the three-kilometer long access road in the district, people of this region have been facing problems crossing the river and traversing the area through the makeshift bridge over the river.

Prior to this, three persons have lost their lives and four have been injured in the duration of two months while crossing the river in the same manner.
