Kalikot, May 22:

The Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Students’ Union and Tarun Dal today organised protests in Manma, the district headquarters of Kalikot, against the alleged killing of NC cadre Jayalal Bam by the Maoists.

Students led by Kalikot district president of the NSU Manaraj Shahi and vice-president of Tarun Dal Katak Shahi burnt flags of the CPN (Maoist).

NSU district president Shahi said they have launched a phase-wise agitation against the murder. Bam was axed to death at Khin village development committee on Saturday by a group of 22 led by a local Anga Bahadur Bishwokarma.

Kin of the dead filed a first information report at the district police office yesterday. Inspector Mahesh Kumar Bhattarai said the police are probing the murder.
