KHOTANG: Diktel Municipality has started demolishing the huts encroaching on the road in the district headquarters and its adjoining areas in Khotang of late. The administration has been demolishing illegally constructed shanties along the Diktel-Khotang bazaar. A setback distance of 11.5 metre should be maintained on either side of the road, as per the new rule. “As we found the locals encroaching on the road, we decided to demolish the huts,” said Executive Officer of the municipality Narayan Dhakal. The municipality launched the campaign after growing complaints of rampant road encroachment.
