Dengue patients up at BPKIHS

KATHMANDU: BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) based in Sunsari's Dharan Sub-metropolis has witnessed an increasing number of patients suffering from dengue.

A health worker at the institute was quoted in Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying that the hospital had been dealing with at least 50 dengue patients for the past three weeks,  said.

According to Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, the patients receiving treatment at BPKIHS are from Ward no. 8 and 15.

Following the disease outbreak, a rapid response team has been formed on the initiative of the sub-metropolis, which is carrying out a study about the disease.

Maheshwor Rai, a member of the response team said that at least 41 patients who tested positive for dengue were from the sub-metropolis' ward no. 15 and two other from the BPKIHS quarter area.
