Denmark welcomes new constitution
NEW YORK: Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, who is attending the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, held a meeting with the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Kristain Jensen on Sunday.
Issues of bilateral relations, assistance in development works and contemporary matters were discussed during the meeting held at the UN building, it is said.
On the occasion, Minister Pandey said that Nepal would move ahead on the path to peace, stability and development with the promulgation of the new constitution through the Constituent Assembly (CA) for the first time in the country’s history.
Following the meeting, Minister Pandey said that Denmark has congratulated Nepal for promulgating new constitution from a democratic practice and pledged supports to Nepal’s development works.
Likewise, Minister Pandey thanked the Danish Minister for the supports provided from Denmark during the time of Nepal’s devastating earthquake. It is said that the two leaders also discussed the activities of the social organisations for the cause of Nepal’s national interests.
During the meeting, Acting Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shankar Das Bairagi, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York Durga Prasad Bhattarai and other high-level officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
