Rajbiraj, June 28:

Dissatisfied with the appointment of a teacher, Ram Lakhan Roy, as the headmaster of the Kanchanpur-based Sarbodaya Higher Secondary School, a group today beat up District Education Officer (DEO) Dev Narayan Yadav and vandalised the district education office.

Narayan Yadav, the then headmaster of the school, had appointed Mahendra Yadav as acting headmaster on April 16. Ever since, a group had been demanding that Roy be made the headmaster on the ground of seniority.

Dev Narayan appointed Roy as the headmaster on the ground of seniority, said president of the Kanchanpur chapter of the civil society, Binod Dutta.

Demanding that Mahendra Yadav be retained as the headmaster, the disgruntled group created havoc in the school, a staffer of the school said. The dissatisfied group was pacified after a decision was made to reinstate Roy as the headmaster of the school.
