Deputed jailer yet to report to duty
Damauli, June 26
Tanahun District Prison is running without a prison chief for the past one month. The officer deputed to the post has yet to report to duty.
Former acting chief Tirthaman Khanal retired a month ago. Health assistant Sakshyam Ghimire has been running the prison. Two days after Khanal retired, the Ministry of Home Affairs had sent a letter assigning the responsibility of acting jailer to first class non-gazetted officer Aibindra KC, who works at the same office. KC, however, has yet to report to duty.
Chief District Officer Bharat Kumar Sharma said the administration had reported to the home ministry prior to Khanal’s retirement. “Despite repeated attempts, KC, who was deputed by the ministry did not come into contact,” CDO Sharma said.
Tanahun Police Chief SP Siddhi Bikram Shah said security was intact in the jail in spite of the jailer’s absence. A team of 14 security personnel led by SI Binduraj Adhikari have been deployed for the jail’s security. There are 91 prisoners, including 42 detainees, in the jail.
