DPM Thapa calls Morcha to join elections

DAMAK: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development Kamal Thapa has urged the Madhesi Morcha to not take the harsh decision of boycotting the local-level elections.

Addressing a grand mass meeting organised by his party, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party here on Saturday, DPM Thapa however expressed the confidence that the Morcha would take part in the elections, with the ongoing dialogue heading towards the positive direction. "The nation is now in a mood for elections, and hence no worth troubling the people with blockade or armed conflict,"

The main opposition CPN-UML and the agitating Morcha should become flexible to make the environment conducive for elections.

He also shared that the local level elections could be held in two-phases if the Morcha agrees to join it.

On the occasion, RPP General Secretary Rajendra Lingden said the party does not wish to ignore other religions by calling for a Hindu state, but just wants to restore Nepal as a Hindu state based on Sanatan religion.
