Detained leader hospitalised

National Assembly member and Morang district president of the Nepali Congress, Ashok Koirala, who was in security custody for the past month, has been admitted to the ICU section of the Kosi Zonal Hospital. Nepali Congress sources said Koirala was admitted on Sunday. Dr Gyanendra Giri, who is attending Koirala, said the leader is in critical condition. The party sources said they are preparing to admit former minister Amod Prasad Upadhyaya, Dilip Sapkota, Gopal Man Singh Rajbhandari and Amrit Aryal to the hospital. They are kept in the Eastern Regional Police Office, Biratnagar. Meanwhile, a report from Dharan said the Sunsari district administration today took political prisoners to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan to have their health checked-up.
