Kathmandu, December 15:

A campaign ‘Know Your Rights’ has been launched in Kailali’s Dhangadhi in order to improve the detention procedure.

The campaign marks International Human Rights Day and intends to increase awareness on detention procedures and the rights of detainees among police, detainees, human rights community and the public.

The campaign is a joint initiative of National Human Rights Commission, Advocacy Forum, Nepal Police, Nepal Bar Association in Kailali and the civil society.

“Know Your Rights aims to enhance respect for the rights of those detained so that the way they are treated improves,” stated Alessandro Righetti, Head of OHCHR-Nepal, Far-Western Regional Office, in a press release.
