Deuba against govt change

BARDIBAS: Senior leader of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba said on Thursday that the political deadlock would not be resolved if there is a change in the government during this period.

Talking to party cadres in Bardibas, Mahottari, Deuba also former prime minister spoke of the need for a way out to the current political deadlock through consensus and cooperation among the political parties. He added that the main opposition party UCPN-Maoist’s support is necessary for accomplishment of the new constitution drafting and peace processes.

In another context, Deuba, a Congress heavyweight said that he has tendered his candidacy for the post of party president in the upcoming party’s 12th general convention. He reasoned that since the party was defeated in the Constituent Assembly election held in 2008, his candidacy would offer unity and strength during the current fragile phase of the party.
