Deuba for reviewing local bodies restructuring report

CHITWAN: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday said that the report submitted by the Local Bodies Restructuring Commission needed a review.

Addressing a mass meet organised in Jagatpur of Chitwan district today, leader Deuba said that the report would be reviewed to address some disagreements in the local level.

"The party will make an insititutional decision regarding the issue," stated Deuba.

"The local bodies were made to ease work for the citizens; but the citizens will not accept if it creates troubles instead," said the NC chief, adding, "How fair is it for common people to walk for two or three days to seek services?"

The former Prime Minister added that the Constitution would be fully implemented once elections at local, provisional and federal levels were held.

Meanwhile, Dahal also claimed that the Constitution amendment bill was proposed considering the genuine demands of people living in Madhes.

Similarly, speaking at the programme, Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat said that jumbling the diplomatic affairs with internal politics was delivering a negative message in the international community.

Genuine demands of national politics, if addressed properly, could improve the image at the international level, he argued.
