DFO cancels illegal land registration
District Forest Office Rautahat today cancelled the registration of 122 bigaha land that was national property, but was illegally registered under the names of various individuals.
The forest land located at wards No 3, 4, and 5 of Rangapur VDC was registered in the names of various individuals by land mafias in cahoots with forest staff members and the Office of Land Survey Rautahat.
The DFO scrapped the registration after a thorough investigation. DFO Rautahat has informed of the decision to the Land Revenue Office. DFO Rautahat, however, has remained silent about what action will be taken against then ranger Ramkewal Yadav, who had aided and abetted the illegal activity.
Then ranger Yadav had signed a field book saying that the land was not in the forest and belonged to an old residential vicinity in 2008. Investigation showed that former officer Shiv Shankar Sah at the Land Survey Office had then transferred the national property under the individuals’ names for financial gains.
Forest Officer Dirgha Narayan Koirala said his office had cancelled the ownership of land and written to the Revenue and Land Survey Office. Koirala said that his office had launched action against the land mafia involved in the unlawful act.
