Dhangadi airport to be closed for a week more
Dhangadi, June 3
People of the Far-west Province will have to face hard time for one more week as upgradation and repair work of Dhangadi Airport is unlikely to be completed within the stipulated time.
Airport upgradation work had started from May 5 and it was supposed to be over by June 4.
The construction company is not likely to meet the deadline due to the snail-paced repair work.
The company has already demanded extension of one week to complete the work.
Kailali Chief District Officer Yagyaraj Bohora said the construction company had requested to extend the deadline by a week. He added that the company had assured that air service would resume from June 12. “I and Dhangadi Sub-metropolis Mayor Nripa Bahadur Odd have visited the airport to monitor repair work time and again,” he added.
Bohora said more than 80 per cent work had been completed so far. He further said the construction work could not be completed on time due to locals’ obstruction and inappropriate soil type on the runway.
