KATHMANDU, MAY 6

The death toll from a bus accident that occurred in Dhankuta Municipality-6 has climbed to three after one more victim succumbed to injuries early this morning.

Leela Bahadur Shrestha, 58, of Shadananda Municipality-13, died while undergoing treatment at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan at around 4:00 am, according to police.

The accident took place on Monday when a bus (Ko 1 Kha 2177) en route to Dhankuta from Dharan veered off the road.

Earlier, Krishna Kumari Bhujel, 73, of Dhankuta Municipality-6, and Rudra Tamang, 51, the driver of the bus from Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-13, died during treatment at Dhankuta Hospital on the day of the incident.

At least a dozen others sustained injuries in the crash.

The injured have been identified as Surya Mani Tamang and Anamol Tamang of Shadananda Municipality-13; Krishna Raut of Barahachhetra Municipality-2; Ganga Prasad Sapkota of Pauwadungma Rural Municipality-3; Sabina Baraili and Devi BK of Bhojpur Municipality-11; Hansha Bahadur Rai of Sagurigadhi Rural Municipality-6; Purna Maya Tamang of Shadananda Municipality-11; Dirgha Maya Rai of Sagurigadhi Rural Municipality-6; Ayush Rai of Itahari; and Dhan Kumar BK of Dhankuta-6.

They are currently receiving treatment at Dhankuta Hospital, Nobel Hospital, and BPKIHS.
