Dhanusha woman thrashed for 'practicing witchcraft'
JANAKPURDHAM: A 50-year-old woman was thrashed by her neighbours on charge of practicing witchcraft in Kshireshwornath Municipality of Dhanusha on Friday.
Shivo Devi Mahara of Ichhapurtol, Kshireshwornath-10 0f the district, was beaten black and blue by a family in her neighbourhood yesterday.
Kari Chaudhary, his wife Chanda Devi, son Prahlad and daughter-in-lawSangita were accused of clobbering the woman.
The Chaudhary family had accused the victim of casting a bad spell on their daughter Sarita.
The family had tried to feed human feces and urine to the woman, but some locals had stopped it and reported the incident to police.
The victim is undergoing treatment at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital.
Meanwhile, the victim's family has claimed that local police denied filing a case against the Chaudhary family.
"Police have not arrested any of them yet," the victim said at the Hospital.
She claimed that the family had already filed an FIR at the Sakhuwa Mahendranagar Area Police Post, but police were trying to settle the issue in mutual agreement.
ASI Netra Karki, however, said police are searching for the suspects.
