Kavre, March 18:
Tourists seeking information from the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) in Dhulikhel are returning sadder but none the wiser, as the TIC has no pearls of wisdom to cast. The TIC reopened six months ago to disseminate information on likely tourist spots but it still has not published any booklet or brochure. Nor can it provide information on tourist spots in the district. The DDC-Kavre has franchised Rotary Club of Dhulikhel to run the TIC, promising to provide an annual budget of Rs 2,00,000. Earlier, Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), the DDC and three municipalities of the district — Dhulikhel, Panauti and Banepa — had agreed to run the TIC. They shut shop before completing three months of operation. The Rotary Club has appointed two female staff for counselling but neither can enlighten anyone about the hot spots. Both women can be found cooling their heels in the office from 8 am to 6 pm. The DDC budget is spent on their salary and office rent.
