Differences among parties helping feudals: Gautam

Pokhara, September 23:

CPN-UML standing committee member Bamdev Gautam today said the Maoists and the feudals got chance to flourish in the nation because of differences and misunderstanding among the political parties at different times. Addressing the three-day national convention of Democratic National Youths Union (DNYU) in Pokhara, Gautam said the failure of political parties made the King more autocratic. “The King took advantage of the differences and division among the political parties and sabotaged democracy and the House of Representatives,” Gautam added.

The political parties have to go ahead with the peaceful movement seeking restoration of democracy in the nation, he said. “Political parties have to root out feudalism for the betterment of the people and the nation,” he said. The seven political parties are fighting in favour of democracy and this is the peoples’ desire, he said, adding, “The royal takeover has pushed people into lot of troubles but this situation is not going to last long.” The parties made a lot of mistakes during the period of 14 years after the restoration of multi-party democracy in 1990, he further said.
