Dipak Manange nabbed

Kathmandu, February 12:

The police today arrested one of the dons of Kathmandu Rajiv Gurung alias Dipak Manange from Thamel.

According to a police source, Manange was arrested on the charge of attack on Abhishek Bikram Shah at Durbarmarga some five months ago. He has also been charged with looting a watch worth Rs 80,000 and four tolas of gold from Shah. The police said Manange had managed to get freed from the prison by claiming that he was not Dipak Manange but Rajiv Gurung. However, the police would now file a case claiming that Rajiv Gurung himself is Dipak Manange.

Meanwhile, the police today arrested four people from Humla along with 48 kg of Yarchagumba, a prized medicinal herb with aphrodisiac properties. The seized herb is worth millions of rupees, the police said.

The arrested are Anup Lama of Limi-6, Panchjor Lama of Limi-9, Kanjo Chhewang Lama of Limi-8 and Tashi Lama of Limi-8 of Humla from a guest house at Gongabu. They were planning to export the medicinal herb.

According to the police, a kilogramme of Yarchagumba costs around Rs 250,000 in the local market and Rs 2 million in the international market.
