Disabled too cast votes
Ranitar (Panchthar), April 10:
Where there is a will, there is a way. Election day here saw some special people equally enthusiastic about casting their votes and be a part of the historic day.
Bhim Bahadur Gurung, 55, of Ranitar-7 in Panchthar district who was born without hands and feet rolled all the way for four hours to reach the polling centre. It takes a normal person two hours to cover the same distance. Setting out at 3 am, Gurung made it to the centre in Ranitar Secondary School at just before 7 am to cast his votes. “It took me four hours to return home,” he said.
Jamuna Gurung, 72, of Ranitar-5 is blind but she also made it to the polling centre all by herself to cast her votes. Meanwhile, Pavin Rai, 31, of Ranitar 9 who had both legs encased in plaster reached the vicinity a day ahead of the electon and hobbled to the centre on crutches to cast his votes at 7 am.
